A Message from Dr. Saik
After many wonderful years of serving the Sherwood Park and Edmonton area, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your trust, your loyalty, and your kindness have meant more to me than words can adequately express. Building this practice alongside such an incredible community has been one of the great privileges of my life, and I am truly proud of everything we have accomplished together.
The time has come for me to begin stepping back from the day-to-day responsibilities of ownership — but please know, I am not going far. I will still be present at the clinic in a limited capacity, and I look forward to continuing to see many familiar faces. I am also pleased to share that I will remain the official optometrist for the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Elks — a role that continues to bring me tremendous pride.
As I prepared for this transition, I was committed to finding someone truly worthy of this practice and the community it serves. After a thorough and thoughtful search, I am proud to announce that Dr. Rebecca Chopek will be taking over as the new owner of Alberta Sports Vision Institute. From the moment I began getting to know her, it was clear she is exactly the right person to carry this practice forward. Her values, her dedication, and her genuine care for patients align with everything ASVI has always stood for.
I could not be more confident in this next chapter, and I hope you will join me in welcoming Dr. Chopek with open arms.

Dr. Rebecca Chopek
Dr. Rebecca Chopek grew up on her family farm near Consort, AB, before earning her Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and then completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. Following her education, she returned home to Alberta, where she has proudly served the community while building her life in Sherwood Park with her husband and their four children.
With nearly a decade of calling Sherwood Park home, Dr. Chopek is passionate about providing exceptional eye care to the families in the community that she is proud to call home. Outside the clinic, you’ll most often find her at the hockey rink or ball diamond cheering on her kids. Raising her family in a supportive, close-knit community is something she values deeply, and she enjoys building lasting relationships with the patients and families she serves.
When she’s not at work or watching her children compete in sports, Dr. Chopek enjoys travelling, camping and spending time at the beach. She is committed to creating a welcoming, patient-centered experience where individuals of all ages feel cared for and supported in achieving their best vision.
